Cedric Diggory/Edward Cullen

Box #124234
Author: Roots and Shoots Redmond
Location: Quinalt, WA (United States)
Plant Date: August 20, 2009
Clue Last Updated: August 31, 2009

Status: active (Last found: Never)

NOTE: August 30th, I just got word that the front desk has been moving things around and seemed to have misplaced the Canoe letterbox that had the stamps in it. I will place a call to the front desk this week to see if they have located the box after their big move. In the meantime, if you are in the area you should still check out the one in the Mercantile across the store, as well as the one in the Quinalt museum next to that. There is also one down the street at the Rain Forest Village store.

On August 20, 1926, a beautiful lodge was built on the shores of Lake Quinalt. In 1937, Roosevelt paid a visit her and enjoyed the beauty of the Olympic National Park with all of its green wonders. Just up the street from this lodge, there is a peaceful cemetary in which I was originally going to place these carves but the lodge has such a wonderful atmosphere that it would be such a shame if one did not visit it.

The Cedric Diggory carve is part of my fourth Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire series. I decided to carve Edward Cullen because of the location. One cannot look out upon the misty grey hanging clouds and forests of green without thinking of Twilight. A little further north of here is where the first Twilight film was made(Forks and La Push) and are a must for any Twilight fan.

CLUE: Go to the registration desk at Lake Quinalt Lodge and ask for the Canoe letterbox. Inside you will find the original canoe carve which is not listed on atlasquest but part of a Lake Quinalt letterboxing series. I've placed my stamps and logbook in the box as well. I hope you are able to stay at the lodge which can pretty booked up during the summer months so plan early on if you visit.

Please take care to replace my stamps and logbook inside the appropriate bag and place back in the Canoe letterbox. I have left a few stamped postcards for anybody who is from out of state and would like to send me their siggie on one.

Happy Trails,
Roots and Shoots Redmond

This is a nice little trail area, with an easy but beautiful trail.
Look for the large sign of Western Washington near the bathrooms.
Head behind this large sign to a VERY Large stump ~ woweeeee this thing is huge.
With the sign to your back, and stump in front of you, look slightly to the left to see a single and double set of trees.
Look in the root cubby on the left side of the larger tree of the double set.

This box was planted in the fall, and it was practically empty at the time. I don't know what this area is like during the summer, so please be careful, and dont give away the location of the box if it's busy.

Check out this outside link: http://www.quinaultrainforest.com/pages/letterboxing.html

There is another box nearby!!!

Happy Trails!
