    (Go north on Hwy. 2 to Hwy. 211. (Sacheen Lake cutoff), then left/north on Hwy. 211.  At Usk go left/north on Hwy.  20. At Tiger go north on Hwy.  to 31.)  
11:00 a.m. Arrive: Metaline Falls, WA 84
  Do: Gas (Fill up)  
11:20 a.m. Depart: Metaline Falls  
11:30 a.m. Arrive: Canadian Border 14
    (Go north on Hwy 6.  At junction go north/left on Hwy 3/6 to Salmo.  Turn right/north on Hwy 6 to Nelson.)  
12:30 p.m. Arrive: Nelson, BC 40

1:30 p.m. Depart: Kootenay Bay  
  Option:    
    (If it is dry and no snow, then turn right/south at the first road by the restrooms after getting off the ferry-Pilot Bay Rd.  Go 4.5 km. down to a small sign on the right.  It's a short but somewhat steep 10-15 minute walk on a broad, well-maintained trail that meanders through a cool, mossy forest, leading to expansive views of the lake from the lighthouse.  It looks like hobbitland.  There is also a picnic table and outhouse for your convenience.  You can also explore further south along the rocky peninsula.  There are no fires allowed here and no water or other amenities.)
